Joe has spent over 20 years in retail serving in various capacities including; Store Management - Successfully run ventures from 5 million to 15 million in annual volume Regional Management - Responsible for 90 Stores 2 billion in volume and 17,000 employees Corporate Management - Business Development, Corporate Diversity including Recruitment, Retention and Supplier Diversity. Some of the key accomplishments include managing a 17,000 employee 2.0 billion dollar business for Target Corporation in the capacity of Sr. Regional HR Director.
Based on a proven track record of designing and implementation of corporate initiatives Joe was tapped to develop a “small business development” initiative for Target Corp. in 2001. Upon taking this initiative Target Corp.’s annual spend with Small Business Enterprises (Minority or Women owned) was 130 million annual. Through many strategies’ and tactics including team development, Target was able to increase its spend to 700 million annually in just 4 years under Joe’s leadership.
To highlight some success stories; Joe introduced Taylor Bros Construction (MBE) in 2002 to Target Corp. As of year-end 2007, Taylor Bros has built over 100 million dollars of construction projects for Target Corp. Joe also developed an “Information Technology Consortium” which established more MBE/WBE participation in Target’s vendor matrix. Resulting in 11 new “IT” staffing vendors added to the preferred vendor list. Outside the box, Joe lead a team in Compton, California to ensure that Target’s new store would be developed, designed and constructed by 100% African American owned contractors. This project was the first of this scale in the United States to be completely constructed from concept to fulfillment with African American talent.
Elizabeth has strategically positioned her company for the future by bringing on the best talent in the market. She not only has technically-trained technical recruiters, and future-forward marketing staff, she has also built an internal infrastructure to be able to meet demands of clients nationally.
It was during this tenure that Joe discovered the “art” of small business development within fortune 500 which has lead to the creation of his own successful enterprise of Muddco, Inc. Now Founder and President, Muddco is a leading importer/ distributor of biodegradable packaging. As a start up in January of 2008 Muddco proudly claims the following customers: Supervalu, Inc., Cub Stores, Kowalski’s Market, Lund’s Food Holdings and Meijer Muddco is also in negations with the following: Sam’s Club, Kroger, Target, CVS, Walgreens and others.
As of January 2012, Joe has once again turned his talents toward small business development and has joined the Direct Staffing Partners Staffing team. In the capacity of Chief Operating Officer, Joe’s responsibility includes increasing revenue by developing a “world class” sales team. Improving operational efficiencies allowing stronger P&L optimizaton. All while helping set the strategic growth of Direct Staffing Partners Staffing and Consulting a leading certified Woman owned enterprise.
